Vinney has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the Liverpool University, where he gained a 2:1. He also undertook and successfully completed an MA in Ethnic and Race Relations. He began boxing, training for York House Boys Club at the age of 14. Following this he moved on to Shokotan Karate under the guidance of WKA World Champion Stephen French and then continued onto kickboxing under World (five times) Free Style Kick Boxer Champion, Alfie Lewis.

Vinney then relocated to London and continued his martial arts training with World Kickboxing Champion Chris McNish of the Peacock Gym. He then moved across to begin three years jujitsu training under 5th Dan, Nick Charalambos. Then home to the KO Gym under former World Champion Master Bill Judd where after ten years training he received his 3rd Dan.

Throughout his live training Vinney has constantly and consistently trained under World, European or British Champions. This rich quality of experience has allowed Vinney to proudly name several British, European and Commonwealth champions who owe much to his coaching. A number of Regional, Area and Home County champions also acknowledge a debt to the dedication of Vinney's approach to training. He was recently selected as an instructor to the England Team going to the IMTF World Championships in Thailand.

Vinney has been recognised at the highest levels of the sport and not long ago he received an award from WMC (World Muay Thai Council) Vice President Stephen Fox in Thailand. This was to thank him for his dedication and support in fostering and promoting the art of Muay Thai.

For Vinney the road to knowledge is a never ending quest. He has completed a referee and judges course with the IKF, under the tutelage of John Blackledge. He attends numerous Krabi Krabong seminars by the renowned weapons master, Tony Moore (Gold Sash, Budda Swan) and has a continuing interest in close quarter combat of all kinds. Never content, Vinney is also constantly researching and updating his knowledge of the theory of Muay Thai and his next ambition is to complete a PhD on the subject. He would welcome any thoughts or contributions.

Vinny was recently elected as the sole representative of the International Muay Boron Academy in England.

Kru Yai Vinnie has been training with the world famous Arjan Marco Cesaris  travelling to Italy to  attending  seminars and training session on Muay Boran  at  the
International Muay Boran Academy in Rome obtaining his 12th Khan and working
on his 13th Khan.

He has also been visiting Thailand once a Year for thee past decade there working with Grandmasters to improve his understanding of Muay Boran.
